TGBIE Class 11 admission 2026: Deadline extended to August 31, Principals directed to follow reservation rules
TGBIE has extended the deadline for Intermediate first-year admission registration for 2026-27 to August 31, giving junior colleges more time to complete enrolments. The board has reiterated reservation norms, including quotas for SC, ST, BC, EWS and other categories. Admissions will be based on qualifying marks and grades, with Aadhaar details and seat disclosure made mandatory.

The Telangana Board of Intermediate Education (TGBIE) has extended the deadline for online registration of students seeking admission to Intermediate first-year courses for the academic session 2026-27. Junior college managements and principals can now complete the registration process for Class 11 candidates until August 31, 2026.The earlier deadline was August 15, but the board has now revised the schedule, giving colleges additional time to complete the admission formalities. The registration process is being conducted through the TGBIE academic portal at acadtgbie.cgg.gov.in.

TGBIE Inter 1st year admission 2026: Reservation rules remain central

Along with the revised deadline, TGBIE has directed junior colleges to strictly follow the reservation rules applicable to admissions. The instructions cover government and private colleges, residential institutions, model colleges, KGBVs, welfare colleges and composite degree colleges offering Intermediate courses.Under the prescribed reservation framework, 15% of seats are reserved for Scheduled Castes, with the SC quota divided into Group I (1%), Group II (9%) and Group III (5%). Scheduled Tribes have a 10% reservation, while Backward Classes have 29%, divided among BC-A (7%), BC-B (10%), BC-C (1%), BC-D (7%) and BC-E (4%).The reservation structure also provides 5% seats for persons with disabilities, 5% for NCC, sports and extracurricular activities, 3% for ex-servicemen and defence personnel residing in Telangana, and 10% for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS).The board has further stated that one-third, or 33.33%, of the total seats must be reserved for girls in each category where separate colleges for girls are not available.

No entrance test for Intermediate admission

TGBIE has made it clear that admission to the first-year Intermediate course will not involve a separate entrance examination. Principals have been directed to make admissions based on the Grade Point Average (GPA), subject-wise Grade Point (GP) and marks secured in the qualifying examination, in accordance with the applicable guidelines. This puts the responsibility on colleges to follow the prescribed admission criteria while maintaining proper records of candidates admitted under different categories.

    Aadhaar details mandatory for students

Another key instruction concerns the submission of Aadhaar details. Students seeking admission to Intermediate courses in TGBIE-affiliated colleges must provide their Aadhaar number as part of the admission process.College managements have also been asked to maintain transparency over the number of seats available. The sanctioned number of sections for the 2026-27 academic year, the number of seats filled in each section and the number of vacant seats must be prominently displayed at the entrance of the college building. The information is required to be updated every day, allowing students and parents to see the actual availability of seats.

    Special instruction for Jogini children

The board has issued a specific direction concerning Jogini children. Principals have been instructed to enter the mother’s name instead of the father’s name in such cases, in accordance with the records of the qualifying examination. The instruction is intended to ensure that admission records remain consistent with the student’s existing educational documents.
