‘Sardar 2’ Twitter review: Karthi wins praise as fans rate the spy thriller ‘Above Average’ and ‘Decent Watch’

Karthi’s ‘Sardar 2’ has opened in theatres with strong expectations, especially after the success and popularity of the first film. Directed by PS Mithran, the sequel brings Karthi back in a dual role and expands the world of the spy-action franchise. With SJ Suryah joining the cast and the film carrying a bigger scale, fans were keen to see whether the sequel could match the impact of ‘Sardar.’

Fans praise Karthi, action, and interval block

Early reactions on X (Twitter) suggest that ‘Sardar 2’ has received a mixed but largely engaging response from viewers. One fan praised the film’s pace and performances, writing, “Halfway Thru Sardar 2. Chase starts from Frame 1 itself, a calm intro for son Karthi & blast entry of old Sardar. Entire plot is different. Karthi dominating & performed well, good support from Malavika.” The same viewer also highlighted Sam CS’ work, adding, “Sam CS BGM . So far engaging & good. Waiting for faceoff.” Another audience member gave the film an upbeat verdict: “First half – Second half – Blockbuster .”

Karthi’s ‘Sardar 2’ gets mixed reviews over second half and runtime

Not every viewer was equally impressed, however. One detailed review called the sequel “A Mixed Sequel That Falls Short of Its Potential”, while praising its interval block and some of the character introductions. The viewer felt the second half was weaker, citing predictable writing, prolonged sequences and inconsistent VFX. Another review was more critical, stating, “OVERDONE! A necessary message for our society, but the 3 hour runtime, poor visual effects, generic music and logic less writing make this a painful watch.” At the same time, some viewers felt the film remained watchable despite its flaws. One review described it as “DECENT WATCH”, noting that the hero-villain conflict works and the final 30 minutes offer some relief.

About ‘Sardar 2’ cast, crew, and plot

‘Sardar 2’ is directed by PS Mithran and stars Karthi in the lead, with SJ Suryah, Malavika Mohanan, Ashika Ranganath, and Rajisha Vijayan among the key members of the cast. Sam CS has composed the music, while the sequel continues the spy-action world established in the first film. The story once again connects Karthi’s characters to a larger mission, bringing together action, espionage and a social message. The sequel attempts to raise the stakes with a new conflict and a stronger face-off, while the returning ‘Sardar’ character remains central to the narrative. The film has received mixed reviews from the audience, with some deeming it ‘Above Average’ and ‘Decent Watch,’ while others have been more critical of it. Whether it will be able to cash in on the initial hype to become a box-office winner remains to be seen in its theatrical run.
