‘Mujhe bahut pareshaan kiya jaa raha tha’: Employee says workplace complaints backfired – ‘I was tortured; I complained, yet I had to resign’

Speaking up about a problem at work can sometimes open a much bigger conversation than expected. A complaint may begin with one uncomfortable situation, but the way it is handled can shape what happens next.Ritica has shared her experience of raising concerns at her workplace and the conversations that followed. Her account includes an interaction with HR, an escalation to senior officials, and allegations involving complaints made against her by junior colleagues.

    Why she went to HR

Ritica described herself as someone who speaks openly when she believes something is wrong. She said she was being troubled by certain people at work and decided to report the matter.“Mujhe bahut pareshaan kiya jaa raha tha. So I’m a person who is very vocal about it, ki mere saath agar ho raha hai to galat ho raha hai.”During one conversation, she recalled being asked whether someone was influencing her to make the complaints.“Ritica aapko brainwash kaun kar raha hai? Aapko influence kaun kar raha hai inn sab cheezon ke liye?”Ritica said she was unhappy with this response and later raised a complaint about the HR representative with senior members of the department.ID@undefined Caption not available.

The issue moves to senior HR

Senior HR officials were later brought into the matter. Ritica said their involvement still did not result in a solution.“Senior HR ko bhi involve hona pada. Iske baad bhi mera issue resolve nahi hua to maine unki bhi complaint kar di ki ye sab mujhe torture kar rahe, mujhe target kar rahe hain par koi solution nahi nikla.”She then alleged that some of her junior colleagues were pressured to send complaints against her.“Mere juniors ko pressurise kiya gaya mere against mail karne ko so that they have document against me so that they can terminate me.”Ritica said she eventually felt she could not continue in the organisation.

    She resigns from the organisation

After the situation she described, Ritica submitted her resignation. She said her decision followed her attempts to raise the matter internally and her concerns about the way events had unfolded at work.

    What happened after her resignation

Ritica also recalled a conversation with management after she had resigned. She said management told her that the organisation had provided her with help and support.“Kal jab mera call hua to unhone kaha, ‘Ritica, you resigned. Hum tumhe itna help kar rahe the, itna support kar rahe the.’”Ritica disagreed with that assessment of the situation and replied:“Really, I wish you get the same support and help in the future.”Disclaimer: This article is based on information available from the source mentioned.
