After finding a buyer for her restored USD 5 million Westchester estate, Drew Barrymore has shown fans a very different kind of home: A cozy RV for her summer getaway

Hollywood actor and talk show host Drew Barrymore is trading luxury living for a simpler summer adventure. Just weeks after securing a buyer for her extensively renovated Westchester County home, the 51-year-old gave fans a glimpse of her new temporary abode, an RV.Barrymore shared a playful video on Instagram, where she danced around the motorhome dressed in a baseball cap and flannel shirt while Enya’s Caribbean Blue played in the background.“Do I want to RV? Yes, yes I do. I’ll bring the string lights and tea!!” she captioned the post.

A cozy tour of her mobile home

The Charlie’s Angels star showcased the compact yet comfortable interiors of the RV, offering followers a tour of its modest amenities. The video featured a petite kitchen equipped with a stove and sink. Fans also spotted a kettle from Barrymore’s own Beautiful by Drew homeware collection, initially resting in its box before later appearing unpacked and taped to the wall, presumably to keep it secure while the vehicle is in motion.Barrymore also revealed the sleeping area, complete with pink bedding, and a compact bathroom featuring a small sink and vanity mirror. She wrapped up the video by letting her hair down and taking a selfie inside the RV, where an oven mitt could be seen hanging from a wall hook.Fans praised the actress in the comments section for her grounded and relatable approach to travel.

A new chapter after selling her countryside sanctuary

Barrymore’s RV adventure comes shortly after her sprawling six-bedroom, nine-bathroom retreat in Harrison, Westchester County, entered the final stages of being sold. The actress purchased the historic 12-acre estate in 2024 for USD 4.4 million before listing it earlier this year for USD 4.99 million. The property, which dates back to the 1740s, quickly found a buyer and is currently pending sale. However, transforming the historic residence into her dream country escape proved to be far more challenging than expected.

Renovation became a massive undertaking

Speaking previously about the project, Barrymore revealed that what she initially believed would be a cosmetic makeover evolved into a complete structural renovation. The extensive work included replacing the home’s heating, plumbing and air-conditioning systems, while the kitchen underwent a major redesign to create a brighter, more open living space, a process she said took nearly a year of engineering.Barrymore likened the experience to the classic film The Money Pit, joking that the renovation mirrored the struggles faced by the movie’s homeowners.Although the project eventually turned the historic estate into a serene family retreat, Barrymore explained that the lengthy renovation meant her family’s lifestyle had changed by the time it was completed. With her daughters’ increasingly busy schedules, the countryside getaway no longer suited their needs, prompting the decision to sell.Despite moving on from the property, Barrymore has often said the renovation allowed her to indulge one of her greatest passions, interior design, and she even chose to live in the house during parts of the restoration instead of waiting for the work to be completed.
