But sadly, in 2012, technology happened and everything just changed.As part of an upgrade across the Underground network, the Transport for London (TfL) system replaced many older announcements with newer digital recordings. One day, Margaret came but Oswald’s familiar voice disappeared. And it felt like losing her husband all over again.A search through historyMargaret soon contacted Transport for London (TfL) and explained why the announcement mattered so much. The organisation could easily have dismissed the request. But TfL staff began searching through decades-old archives and after a marathon of search, they finally found what they were looking for, the original recording of Oswald Laurence’s voice.TfL’s extraordinary decision

The transport authority restored his original announcement at Embankment station, and made the world emotional with their heartfelt decision.
