Quote of the day by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan: ‘There's greater strength in silence; it takes incredible strength to be silent...It's very easy to scream off the rooftop,’ life lesson by 'Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam' star on why protecting your peace is more important than constantly defending yourself
Quote of the day by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan: ‘There’s greater strength in silence; it takes incredible strength to be silent…It’s very easy to scream off the rooftop,’ life lesson by ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’ star on why protecting your peace is more important than constantly defending yourself

In today’s world, where the norm is explaining, defending, and broadcasting your every thought and move publicly, saying everything out loud isn’t entirely healthy. It is more about choosing to stay silent and standing your ground regardless of what other people say. Today’s quote by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan emphasises the importance of standing your ground and protecting your inner peace. The quote of the day from Aishwarya Rai Bachchan reads, “There’s greater strength in silence. Believe me, I know it takes incredible strength to be silent. It’s very easy to scream off the rooftop; it’s very easy to put out stories.”

What does Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s quote of the day mean?

    Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s quote of the day is all about understanding that you do not have to defend yourself all the time. It is important sometimes to just lie low and keep quiet, for that can help you in the long run. (Instagram)

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan shared these words of wisdom in an old interview on ‘Rendezvous with Simi Garewal.’ This quote directly challenges the assumption that staying silent is a sign of weakness. Reacting, retaliating, or “screaming off the rooftop” provides instant gratification. It is something that can be easily done. However, rather than being effective, this reaction can also be impulsive, heavily driven by anger, hurt, or other emotions.Choosing silence when attacked demands incredible strength because, at the end of the day, you are forcing yourself to bear the weight of judgment without any support. The quote also points towards the fact that it can become extremely exhausting to defend yourself again and again over trivial matters, even in situations where staying silent and keeping away would have worked better. It is more about respecting yourself and believing in yourself than anything else. It is about giving up the short-term thrill of winning an argument or controlling the narrative in favour of long-term peace by staying quiet on the matter.

How does Aishwarya Rai Bachchan relate to this quote herself?

The ‘Hum Dil De Chuke’ fame star has been under constant pressure and public scrutiny from the moment she entered the film industry. Her full statement from the interview says, “There’s greater strength in silence. Believe me, I know it takes incredible strength to be silent. It’s very easy to scream off the rooftop, it’s very easy to put out stories, and it’s very easy to give out all those interviews where you just give vent... It’s very, very easy to plant stories or have sources speak for you. It’s tough not to do it.”

Rai fully relates to the quote herself as she has been though a lot in the industry; however she still managed to come out on top. (Instagram)

In the early 2000s, she was the centre of media attention and dealt with many allegations and public hate for things outside her control. This ranged from a publicised breakup with Salman Khan to her being replaced by Rani Mukerji in the film ‘Chalte Chalte’. She witnessed her fair share of challenges; however, she has not always deemed it necessary to discuss everything. Rather, she savours the moment, understands the other person’s perspective, and simply keeps quiet. For the ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ actress, silence was never a weakness; it has always been a calculated move on her end to protect her mental health, prevent her personal life from becoming public entertainment, and allow her career and talent to speak for themselves. Her quote also applies to today’s day and age, where the constant need to take control of situations, change the narrative according to your liking, and constantly defend yourself is always there. Rather than approaching a situation with aggression in mind, it can sometimes be best to remain silent, keep quiet, and let it all pass.

Aishwarya Rai’s early life and military family background
