Nayanthara, who is part of the film’s ensemble cast, recently opened up about why she chose to play the role of Ganga in the film.
Nayanthara on choosing roles beyond labels
Talking about what made her sign the project, Nayanthara made it clear that she has never picked films based on labels such as solo or multi-starrer. For her, what truly counts is the character and whether it brings something meaningful to the film’s narrative.Speaking with Variety India, she said, “I’ve never looked at films through the lens of screen space or labels like solo or multi-starrer.”

Speaking about filmmaking, the actor pointed out that cinema is a collaborative art form, and a film benefits as a whole when every character is given proper depth.Talking about her character Ganga, she suggested that there is much more to the role than what was shown in the trailer. She described Ganga as a character with a distinct voice, her own choices and a genuine emotional journey, someone who drives the story forward rather than merely existing to support another character.The actress further mentioned that she was pleased with the response ‘Toxic’ received even before its release. While the excitement generated by the trailer, visuals and the film’s world felt special in its own right, she admitted that the real nerves and thrill kicked in only once the film was released for audiences to watch.
