Tim Curry’s historic Los Feliz home has come under offer just hours after news of the actor’s death at 80 was announced. The property, which Curry painstakingly restored during his ownership, had been listed for $7.5 million and has now been marked as “contingent,” according to Realtor.The status means the seller has accepted an offer, although certain conditions still need to be met before the sale can officially close.The Los Angeles property has a remarkable Hollywood history. Curry purchased the home for $650,000 in 1993 and spent several years restoring it, eventually showcasing the transformation in Architectural Digest.

Originally built in 1922, the historic residence was designed by acclaimed architect Stiles O. Clements. Known today as the Seyler House, the property features Spanish-inspired architecture and distinctive period details.Curry was drawn to the house after moving to Los Angeles from the UK. His friend and fellow actor Annie Potts reportedly took him to see the property, and the actor quickly felt that it could become the home he had envisioned.Curry recalled that he made an offer almost immediately after seeing the house. However, he soon learned that another potential buyer had withdrawn from the deal after a psychic allegedly told her that the house was haunted.“I soon learned that the previous bidder had been told by her psychic that the house was haunted and had just withdrawn from escrow,” Curry recalled.The rumor did not deter him.

He drew inspiration from a trip to Ireland, where he visited an estate belonging to the Guinness family.Describing the experience, Curry recalled it as the most beautiful and comfortable house he had ever visited. He was particularly inspired by its collection of paintings, aged surfaces and the layers of history created by generations of residents.He brought a similar philosophy to his Los Feliz home, preserving original elements such as exposed wood-beam ceilings, hand-painted surfaces, stained-glass windows, iridescent copper and vintage tiles.The property later appeared in Architectural Digest in 1998, documenting Curry’s meticulous restoration.
A Hollywood home owned by several famous stars
Curry eventually sold the Los Feliz property for $2.6 million in 2001. But his connection to Los Angeles real estate did not end there. He went on to renovate several other residences in the city, including one that he later sold to actress Christina Ricci.His former Los Feliz residence, meanwhile, passed through the hands of several prominent names.The property’s later owners included former NBA star Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, The Pitt actor Noah Wyle, Twilight star Robert Pattinson, The Big Bang Theory actor Jim Parsons and Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul.According to the current listing, Paul worked with Commune Design in 2019 to update the property while preserving its historic character.
