BPSC TRE 4.0 application process postponed; 32,388 Bihar teacher posts affected, revised schedule soon
The BPSC has deferred the start of TRE 4.0 registration, which was earlier scheduled for September 1. The recruitment covers 32,388 teacher vacancies across Bihar’s government schools.

The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has postponed the commencement of the online application process for the Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE) 4.0. The application window, which was scheduled to open on September 1, 2026, will not begin as planned. The commission has cited administrative/procedural reasons for the decision and said a revised schedule for registration and submission of applications will be announced shortly. Candidates preparing for the recruitment drive should, therefore, not treat September 1 as the application opening date.

    BPSC TRE 4.0 application postponed

The recruitment is being conducted under Advertisement No. 14/2026 for school teacher posts in Bihar. BPSC had earlier announced 32,388 vacancies and scheduled the online application process to begin on September 1.With the latest decision, candidates will have to wait for the commission to issue fresh dates. The postponement does not mean that the recruitment has been cancelled. The recruitment process remains in place, while the application schedule is being revised. The commission’s current examination calendar also lists TRE 4.0 with 32,388 vacancies, while the written examination date remains to be finalised.

Recruitment covers teaching posts from Classes 1 to 12

The TRE 4.0 recruitment drive covers teaching positions across different school levels in Bihar. The notified 32,388 vacancies are divided among primary, middle, secondary and senior secondary teachers. The post-wise distribution is:

    • Primary teachers, Classes 1 to 5: 3,847 posts
    • Middle school teachers, Classes 6 to 8: 8,563 posts
    • Secondary teachers, Classes 9 to 10: 3,877 posts
    • Senior secondary teachers, Classes 11 to 12: 16,101 posts

The largest share of vacancies is for senior secondary teachers, accounting for 16,101 posts.

Why has the BPSC TRE 4.0 process been delayed?

The postponement comes against the backdrop of sustained protests by teacher aspirants in Bihar. Candidates have raised concerns over the proposed examination structure, negative marking and other aspects of the recruitment process. The issue of the examination pattern has been particularly significant. Aspirants had been pressing for a single-stage examination, arguing that a change in the structure could make the recruitment process longer.Following discussions with protesting candidates, the Bihar government agreed that TRE 4.0 would be conducted in a single phase. The latest postponement now adds another layer of uncertainty to a recruitment process that has already faced prolonged demands from aspirants.

    Vacancy count may rise further

While BPSC’s notified recruitment currently covers 32,388 posts, the final vacancy figure could undergo a revision. The Bihar government has reportedly increased the number of music teacher vacancies by 111. If these additional posts are incorporated into TRE 4.0, the total number of vacancies would rise to 33,385.The revised vacancy details are expected to be forwarded to BPSC for incorporation into the recruitment process. This could be one of the factors requiring changes to the recruitment framework and related application details.

    What should candidates do now?

Candidates should not attempt to submit the TRE 4.0 application on September 1, as the previously announced opening date has been deferred.Instead, applicants should wait for the revised schedule and any fresh instructions issued by BPSC. Candidates should also keep their educational and eligibility documents ready so that they can complete registration once the application window opens. The commission has not yet announced a fresh application start date. Candidates should rely on updates issued through the official BPSC website rather than unverified information circulating on social media.BPSC official website

Recruitment remains important for Bihar’s teacher aspirants

TRE 4.0 is one of the major teacher recruitment exercises in Bihar and has attracted significant attention from candidates seeking government school teaching jobs. The notification for 32,388 posts was issued on August 18 after months of demands from aspirants for clarity on the recruitment schedule. The immediate priority for candidates is now to track the revised application dates. For BPSC, the challenge will be to incorporate any changes in vacancies and recruitment procedures while providing a clear schedule to applicants.Until the commission announces fresh dates, the September 1 application deadline should be treated as cancelled for practical purposes, and candidates should wait for the next official notification.Candidates can click on the link provided here to download the BPSC TRE 4.0 postponement notice.
