NEET PG 2026: PIB calls Jaipur paper leak reports misleading, re-exam set for 2,445 candidates
NEET PG 2026 re exam date

The Press Information Bureau (PIB) has dismissed social media claims that the NEET PG 2026 question paper was leaked at an examination centre in Jaipur. In a fact-check issued after the examination, PIB said the viral claim was misleading and confirmed that there was no question paper leak during the NEET PG 2026 examination. The clarification comes after the test faced disruption at select centres in Jaipur, leaving thousands of candidates unable to complete their examination. The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has since announced a re-examination for the affected candidates.

NEET PG 2026 paper leak claim is misleading, says PIB

Social media posts had alleged that the NEET PG 2026 question paper was leaked from an examination centre in Jaipur. Addressing the claims, the PIB Fact Check unit said the information circulating online was misleading.According to the government fact-checking agency, there was no question paper leak during the NEET PG 2026 examination. Candidates have been advised not to rely on unverified social media posts and to check official communications before drawing conclusions about the examination. The PIB Fact Check unit has also encouraged the public to submit suspicious or misleading government-related claims for verification.Candidates can contact PIB Fact Check through WhatsApp at +91 8799711259 or email factcheck@pib.gov.in.

What happened at the Jaipur NEET PG centre?

The NEET PG 2026 examination was conducted on August 30 across the country. While the examination was completed successfully for the overwhelming majority of candidates, a technical disruption affected candidates appearing at the iON Digital Zone iDZ Sitapura Centres in Jaipur, Rajasthan. The disruption was caused by an internal power supply issue at the examination centres. As a result, 2,445 candidates could not complete the examination as scheduled. The incident appears to have triggered speculation online, with claims about a possible paper leak subsequently circulating on social media. PIB has now clarified that the disruption should not be confused with a question paper leak.

NBEMS announces re-examination for affected candidates

To ensure that candidates affected by the disruption are not disadvantaged, NBEMS has scheduled a fresh examination for all 2,445 candidates. The re-examination will be held on September 5, 2026, at 3 pm in Jaipur. The decision is intended to provide the affected candidates with an equal and fair opportunity to appear for the postgraduate medical entrance examination. The re-test is particularly significant because the interruption was not caused by any action on the part of the candidates. Conducting a separate examination allows the authorities to address the disruption without compromising the fairness of the admission process.Candidates who are eligible for the re-examination should follow the instructions issued by NBEMS and monitor the official communication for details regarding the examination centre, reporting time and other requirements.

NEET PG 2026 examination held across 339 cities

The NEET PG 2026 examination was scheduled for 2,73,096 candidates at 1,111 examination centres across 339 cities covering all 36 States and Union Territories.According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, 2,65,980 candidates appeared for the examination. The test was successfully completed for approximately 2,63,535 candidates. The Jaipur disruption therefore affected a relatively small section of the overall candidate pool, although the impact on those candidates was significant enough to warrant a separate examination.

When will NEET PG 2026 result be announced?

The NEET PG 2026 result is expected to be announced by September 15, 2026. However, NBEMS has not officially confirmed the result date so far.Candidates should therefore treat September 15 only as an expected timeline and wait for an official announcement before considering the date final. The result will be important for candidates seeking admission to postgraduate medical programmes, including MD and MS courses, as their ranks will determine their options during the subsequent counselling process.

NEET PG 2026 paper analysis: Moderate difficulty, clinical focus

Initial reactions to the NEET PG 2026 question paper suggest that the examination was of moderate difficulty. Students and experts reported that the paper placed considerable emphasis on clinical application rather than straightforward factual recall.Several questions reportedly focused on areas such as image-based diagnosis, investigations, treatment strategies and clinical decision-making.The nature of the paper meant that candidates needed to apply their understanding of medical concepts to clinical situations. This made conceptual clarity and practical understanding important alongside knowledge of factual information. However, the final assessment of the examination will depend on the overall performance of candidates and the official result data.
