    IOB SO recruitment 2026: Indian Overseas Bank invites applications for 291 posts; apply by September 15
    IOB SO recruitment 2026 registration begins

    The Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) has released a recruitment notification for 291 Generalist and Specialist Officer posts in various scales. The recruitment includes posts such as Manager, Senior Manager and Assistant Manager in areas including branch management, Information Technology (IT), information security, credit, risk, database administration, network administration and cyber security.Eligible and interested candidates can apply online through the official IOB website at iob.bank.in. The application process started on August 29, 2026, and the last date to submit the application form and pay the required fee is September 15, 2026. Applications through any other mode will not be accepted.

    IOB recruitment 2026: Vacancy details

    The 291 vacancies are spread across 14 posts. These include:

    The bank has said that the number of vacancies is provisional and may change according to its requirements.

    IOB recruitment 2026: Eligibility

    The age limit and qualification requirements are different for each post. Candidates must meet the prescribed eligibility conditions as on August 1, 2026.For the Manager, Branch Management post, candidates should be between 23 and 33 years of age. They should have a graduation degree in any discipline and at least three years of experience as an officer in a scheduled public or private sector bank, including at least two years in branch banking.For Manager, IT, candidates should be aged 25 to 35 years and should have a Bachelor of Engineering, Bachelor of Technology, Master of Computer Applications or Master of Science in Computer Science or Information Technology. They also need at least five years of post-qualification experience in IT, including three years in the banking or Banking, Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI) sector.Other specialist posts require relevant educational qualifications and work experience in areas such as information security, cyber security, information security audit, database administration, network administration, credit and risk management.The Assistant Manager, Security post has a different eligibility requirement. Candidates should be graduates aged 30 to 45 years and must have the required service experience in the armed forces, paramilitary forces or police, as specified in the notification.Age relaxation will be available to eligible candidates belonging to reserved categories as per government rules.

    IOB recruitment 2026: Application fee

    Candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities categories have to pay Rs 175, including Goods and Services Tax, as intimation charges.For all other candidates, including Other Backward Classes and Economically Weaker Section applicants, the fee is Rs 1,000, including Goods and Services Tax.The fee is non-refundable.

    IOB recruitment 2026: Selection process

    The selection process will include an online examination followed by an interview. Candidates who qualify in the online examination will be called for the interview.For the Generalist Officer post in Branch Management, the online exam will have 100 questions for 100 marks. It will include 25 questions on English Language and 75 questions on Professional Knowledge. The total duration will be two hours.For all other posts, the exam will also have 100 questions carrying 100 marks. There will be 25 questions on English Language, 25 on General Awareness with special reference to the banking industry and 50 on Professional Knowledge.There will be separate timings for the sections. Candidates will get two hours in total. One-fourth of the marks assigned to a question will be deducted for every wrong answer. There will be no penalty for an unanswered question.The final merit list will give 80% weightage to the online examination and 20% to the interview.Read the detailed notification available here.

    IOB recruitment 2026: How to apply

    Candidates can apply online by visiting iob.bank.in and opening the Careers section. They need to select the recruitment link for Generalist and Specialist Officers in Various Scales 2026-27 and complete the registration process.After registration, candidates will receive their registration number and password through email and SMS. They will then have to upload their photograph, signature, left thumb impression and handwritten declaration and complete the application form. Direct link to apply here.Candidates should check all details carefully before submitting the form and should save or print a copy of the submitted application for future reference.The bank has also allowed candidates to apply for more than one post, provided they meet the eligibility conditions for each post. However, if a candidate submits more than one application for the same post, only the latest application will be considered.The selected candidates may be posted or transferred anywhere in India according to the requirements of the bank. Candidates selected for the Junior Management Grade Scale I post will have to serve for a minimum of three years after executing a financial service indemnity bond of Rs 2 lakh. For posts under Middle Management Grade Scale II and III, the bond amount is Rs 2.5 lakh with a minimum service period of three years.
