“Layers of Life”, gown designed by Keesha Abdallah is inspired by 7 anatomical layers involved in a Caesarean section

What’s the point of a pageant gown? Mainly to create a moment of glamour. But when Miss World Uganda Muhoza Trivia Elle walked onto the Miss World stage in Vietnam, she looked more than glamorous. Her gown left the onlookers stunned. She walked with grace wearing a dramatic, ombré creation. Her dress was not an ordinary piece but carried a story far deeper than sequins and glitter. Known as “Layers of Life,” her gown was designed by Keesha Abdallah for the World Designer Award and was inspired by the seven anatomical layers involved in a Caesarean section (C-Section during childbirth).It’s the idea behind the dress that celebrated the most extraordinary journey of motherhood, womanhood. The dress also stood out because it took something rarely associated with high fashion, the physical anatomy of childbirth.

The story behind the gownThe story of the gown started with the designer Abdallah herself. She, being a new mother, found herself looking at childbirth not simply as a medical process but as something that deserved to be represented on the world forum in the most creative way.She described the starting point as a “crazy idea” and turned the layers involved in childbirth into a couture gown. When she got the golden opportunity to design a dress for Miss Uganda to wear on the Miss World stage, she decided to pursue that unusual concept rather than create another conventional gown for the pageant.How the dress was designed

Abdallah said that she studied images and details associated with the seven layers which are cut during a C-section during child birth. And after much research and understanding the anatomy, she created a masterpiece that the world is praising today.Layers of Life: Seven layers, one life-changing momentThe “Layers of Life” gown interprets the seven anatomical layers involved in a C-section. It moves from the body’s outer protection towards the place where a baby grows.

A dress that represents the journey of a woman to motherhoodThe gown’s visual drama comes from its layered construction and colour transition.As per reperts, the dress was created using stretch satin and layers of tulle, with a fitted one-shoulder bodice leading into a flowing drape. Its ombré palette moves through hues including peach, gold, coral, red, maroon and burgundy.According to Abdallah, one of the most difficult parts of designing the gown was finding the right shades for different layers. There were several colours and combinations, and the team had to experiment a lot before finalising the gown.More than a pageant gownChildbirth is often discussed through medical terminology, procedures, recovery and risks. But rarely people talk about the emotional and physical experience of mothers, all her emotions and journey disappear behind those medical descriptions and prescriptions.“Layers of Life” brings that experience into a completely different setting.On a pageant stage, where gowns traditionally celebrate glamour, beauty and fantasy, this one celebrates physical and deeply human: a body creating new life.Universal messageDesigner Abdallah has also clarified that the colours were not intended to represent race or skin tone. Her inspiration was the shared anatomy of the human body and the universal experience of life rather than any particular ethnicity.The idea makes the name “Layers of Life” even more meaningful.A woman may live in Uganda, India, Vietnam, America, Australia, Brazil or anywhere in the world. She may give birth naturally or through a C-section. But the fundamental idea of bringing a child into the world remains entirely human.And the woman wearing the gownThe official Miss World profile describes the Ugandan representative as an entrepreneur and philanthropist. She herself runs a beauty and skincare business and has spoken about supporting kids in vulnerable homes.Her purpose of life makes the symbolism of “Layers of Life” particularly fitting.When fashion becomes a human story“Layers of Life” succeeds because it has a pure human side. It’s more than fabric. Its colours represent more than decoration.
