The 14th Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso, is the spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhism and one of the most renowned voices on compassion and human well-being alive today. Born in 1935, he was identified as a child as the reincarnation of his predecessor and later became the religious and political head of Tibet.In 1989, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his consistent, nonviolent efforts to resolve the Tibet issue.
