‘Hanuman Ansh’ producer Ragini Sona denies Rs 100 crore OTT deal reports: ‘What offer we are getting or what offer the platform is giving, nobody cares about it’

Amid the buzz surrounding ‘Hanuman Ansh’s’ continued success at the box office, producer Ragini Sona has stepped in to clear the air on reports claiming that the film has bagged a massive Rs 100 crore OTT deal. According to her, such claims are nothing but baseless speculation, with the makers currently focused entirely on the film’s ongoing theatrical journey rather than any digital release plans.Speaking to NDTV, Ragini Sona addressed the widespread speculation head-on, urging audiences not to give it any weight. She said, “It’s nothing like that. It’s all rumours. Please don’t pay attention to it. Today, how many people are watching the film matters. What offer we are getting or what offer the platform is giving, nobody cares about it. We want you guys to watch the film in theatres and praise it and love it.”

    Crediting the film’s word-of-mouth success

Ragini Sona also credited the audience for the film’s growing popularity, attributing its success to something beyond conventional marketing. She continued, “Darshak hi prachar kar rahe hain. Aisa kabhi maine suna nahi hai aur na dekha hai. Yeh Neem Karoli Baba ka hi chamatkar hai. (It is the audience itself that is spreading the word. I have neither heard of nor seen anything like this before. This is nothing but a miracle of Neem Karoli Baba).“

No OTT offer on the table, says Ragini Sona

Clarifying the team’s stance further, the producer made it clear that no digital deal is currently in place, nor is one being actively sought. She said, “Numbers will come and go, and I want to make it clear on my team’s behalf that we don’t have any such offer, and we don’t want any such offers either. Whatever we decide, we will discuss it within the team and take a call. You’ll get to know this soon. Watch the film in theatres because even we don’t know when the film will come on OTT.“

    Director recalls earlier OTT rejection

Ragini Sona’s clarification follows earlier remarks made by the film’s director and producer, Dr Vishal Chaturvedi, who had revealed that being turned down by an OTT platform actually pushed him towards a theatrical release. Speaking to India TV, the filmmaker recalled pitching the story to a streaming platform, where he was asked whether he had an Indian story with international appeal. He shared that he narrated the tale of Maharaj Ji with such emotion that he ended up breaking down during the narration.Chaturvedi noted that it wasn’t the rejection itself that bothered him, but the manner in which it was communicated. He said the language used came across as dismissive and that, while rejection is something filmmakers are used to, the tone made him feel that the platform carried a certain preconceived notion — one he felt needed to be challenged.

    Box office milestone continues

Meanwhile, the film’s theatrical run remains impressive. ‘Hanuman Ansh’ has officially crossed the Rs 200-crore mark, earning nearly 100 times its reported Rs 2-crore budget, and has outperformed releases like ‘Mirzapur: The Movie’ and ‘Haiwaan’ at the box office.
