The saree moment became even more interesting when Kareena posted a throwback featuring her sister, Karisma Kapoor.
On September 11, Kareena shared a collage on her Instagram Stories showing her recent leheriya look alongside Karisma wearing a similar style in Zubeidaa. She also added the song “Main Albeli” from the film to the Story.
“Well, I always knew we have good taste… sisters forever @therealkarismakapoor,” Kareena wrote.
And just like that, the sisters’ shared fashion history became part of the conversation.
Fans were quick to notice the resemblance, while fashion commentary account Diet Sabya also shared a series of Bollywood stars who have worn leheriya over the years, including Rekha, Karisma, Kareena, Rani Mukerji, Alia Bhatt and Shilpa Shetty.
The post also brought up an obvious point: leheriya isn’t some new Bollywood fashion discovery. Women in Rajasthan have been wearing the traditional textile for generations.
One Instagram user summed it up nicely: “Girlies in Rajasthan are doing it every day with so much grace.”
Another praised Karisma’s Zubeidaa wardrobe, while someone else jokingly compared Kareena’s colourful look to “CASATTA” – the famous rainbow ice cream.
