According to reports shared by Allkpop, the actor recently scored a victory in a lawsuit that had been filed against him for advertising for a watch brand. The outlet reported that Chief Judge Choi Soo-jin of the Seoul Eastern District Court’s 13th Civil Division dismissed the brand’s claims in the lawsuit. The initial request was for the actor to pay them the return he earned from the advertising contract. The amount came to a total of 577 million KRW.The official ruling was issued on August 27, 2026, and the company did not file any appeal against the verdict within the valid time period. Neither the actor nor his official management agency, which has been named in the case, will have to pay any of the amount back to the company.The case initially started after the brand, which Soo Hyun had been working with since 2020, cancelled their contract with him following the controversies involving him and the late Kim Soo Hyun. The outlet stated that the actor’s commercial value had taken a hit because of the controversies, which were said to be the grounds for the lawsuit. During the lawsuit, the actor and his management agency maintained that the controversy originated from allegations made by a third party.
