A young Brazilian TikToker’s life came to a sudden and violent end after she was reportedly shot outside a home in northern Brazil. Evelyn Lima Dantas, 21, was found dead on Sept. 16 after police responded to reports of gunfire in Mãe do Rio. Her death has raised questions about a possible link to a criminal investigation that had already brought her into police custody earlier this year.

Authorities in Mãe do Rio were called early Wednesday after residents heard several gunshots. According to a police report obtained by Brazilian outlet g1, officers arrived at a residential area and found Dantas dead outside a home.Details from her family, as reported to Military Police, paint a disturbing picture of the final moments. Two men allegedly entered the house, took Dantas outside and shot her several times. They then reportedly left the scene in a car.Police also found the letters “TCP” spray-painted at the location. Authorities believe the initials may refer to Terceiro Comando Puro, a criminal faction in Brazil. However, that connection remains part of the investigation and has not been established as a confirmed motive for Dantas’ killing.The case has drawn attention in part because of Dantas’ online presence. She had built a combined audience of more than 150,000 followers on TikTok and her now-deactivated Instagram account. Her posts focused largely on lifestyle, beauty and fitness, giving followers a glimpse into her life away from the criminal investigation surrounding her death.Her TikTok account appeared to have been inactive since January 2025, when she shared a lip-sync video with another creator.

Dantas’ recent history with authorities is now another key part of the case. According to the police report cited by g1, she was arrested in July while authorities were investigating the killing of a local police sergeant.She remained in police custody until Sept. 9, when she was released provisionally. Just one week later, she was killed.A Military Police commander said investigators are examining whether her death could have been connected to the earlier case. The official described a possible motive involving retaliation or an attempt to destroy evidence, while stressing that it is one of several investigative possibilities.“We are strongly working with the hypothesis of retaliation or destruction of evidence by some criminal faction,” a Military Police commander told reporters in Spanish of a possible connection between Dantas’s killing and her previous arrest, per g1. “This is one of the main priority lines of investigation and information that we have.”That theory has not been proven, and authorities have yet to publicly establish who was responsible for the killing or why Dantas was targeted.PEOPLE reported that it had contacted the Military Police for comment.As investigators work to piece together what happened, Dantas’ death remains under investigation.
