Taylor Swift was not particularly pleased when Jason Kelce woke her and Travis Kelce up early in the morning with a workout-related request. The retired NFL star had called his younger brother at 7:30 am, leaving Travis worried that something had gone wrong, only to discover that Jason wanted him to help with a gym session.The amusing incident came up during the Wednesday, October 21, episode of the brothers’ New Heights podcast, where they discussed Jason’s participation in the fitness challenge ‘Squatober’. While Travis was more than willing to help his brother, Swift apparently found the timing and circumstances less amusing.
Jason Kelce’s unusual trip to Kansas City for Squatober
Travis revealed that Jason had asked him about the weights he kept in his basement before travelling to Kansas City, Missouri, with additional equipment for his workout.“I knew Jason was doing Squatober,” Travis said, recalling how his older brother had asked him how much weight he had at home. Jason eventually arrived with two 25-pound weights to add to his workout setup.“A couple extra plates to throw on the old squat bar,” Travis joked, calling it “the most meathead thing I think I’ve ever seen Jason do”.But Jason’s dedication to fitness soon led to an early morning interruption that Travis was not expecting.
Travis Kelce feared something had gone wrong
Travis said he was alarmed when his phone rang at 7:30 am. Still half-asleep, the Chiefs tight end immediately imagined that his brother might have suffered an injury.“I get a call at 7:30 in the morning. In my mind, I’m thinking worst-case scenario,” Travis recalled. He wondered whether Jason had hurt himself during a run or blown out his knee while exercising.Instead, Jason was perfectly fine and had called for a favour.“Jason’s like, ‘Yeah, can you come spot me?’ I was just like, ‘No way!’” Travis said, laughing as he recounted his brother’s request.Jason then clarified that he was doing bench presses rather than squats. Travis admitted that the news came as a relief because he would not have been able to save his brother if he had been attempting a heavy back squat.“I got my ankle wrap. And he’s like, ‘Nah, nah, it’s bench, it’s bench. It’s not squat.’ And I’m like, cool, ‘cause I wouldn’t be able to save you if it was a f—ing back squat. I’m like, ‘Cool, I’ll come down,’” Travis said.
What Taylor Swift said when Travis agreed to help
Although Travis was ready to head down and spot Jason during his workout, Swift was apparently unimpressed by the situation.Travis recalled that as he was leaving the room, the pop star reacted to the early morning call by saying, “This is f—ed up.”Her response prompted laughter from the brothers, particularly as Travis remained determined to help Jason.“And I’m just like, ‘Nah, it’ll be good. It’ll be good!’” Travis added.The exchange highlighted the easygoing dynamic between the brothers, even as Jason’s gym plans unexpectedly brought Swift into the conversation. While Travis saw no problem with helping his older brother, Swift’s reaction suggested that a 7:30 am workout request was hardly an ideal way to start the day.

The brothers also spoke about being together at Arrowhead Stadium over the weekend, where the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Los Angeles Chargers.Jason confirmed that he attended a New Heights tailgate ahead of the game. Although he and Swift were not pictured together, both were present to support Travis and his team.“We were all there in Arrowhead this weekend. It was a blast,” Jason said.
