‘418’ Twitter review: Screenplay and storytelling face criticism
Several viewers have described 418 as an average horror thriller, arguing that its promising setup and sound design are not consistently supported by the writing. One viewer praised the technical aspects but criticised the screenplay, particularly after the film’s backstory is revealed.“A decent setup, an okay backstory, a few jump scares, and EXCELLENT SOUND DESIGN. That’s ALL it has to offer! Once the backstory unfolds, the film completely loses the plot with CLUELESS WRITING & SCREENPLAY and ZERO genuine horror moments until the climax!” the viewer wrote.Another moviegoer felt the film improved significantly in the second half, suggesting that the central story takes time to develop. However, the viewer also pointed out that a more effective first half could have made the overall experience stronger.“1st is below avg. But from 2nd half, movie is at a diff level. Music, story, horror screens superb. Main story starts in the 2nd half. 1st half lo koncham scary scenes or initial story connect CHESI unte inka chala bagunde di. Superb movie. Rating 2.75/5,” the viewer wrote. The contrasting reactions suggest that the film’s reception depends partly on viewers’ expectations, with some appreciating its eventual payoff while others have found the storytelling uneven.
