Greater Noida man orders Rs 1,999 Android device online, gets a shocking parcel instead; details inside

Online shopping is supposed to make buying things easier, but for one man in Greater Noida, an order for an Android device ended in a bizarre surprise. Instead of receiving the electronic device he had paid for, he allegedly found cow dung inside the parcel. The incident was reported from the Dankaur police station area of Greater Noida, where a man identified as Akash Nagar approached the police after receiving the unexpected package. According to reports, he had ordered the device online for work and paid Rs 1,999 in advance.

He paid Rs 1,999 for an Android device

According to Akash, he came across the offer online and decided to order an Android device that he needed for work. Reports from India Today said the order was placed through Instagram, while other reports describe it as an online website purchase. He made the full payment digitally before waiting for the delivery. Like any online shopper, Akash expected the parcel to contain the product he had selected. Instead, the delivery turned into a shock.

Parcel arrived at around 5 PM

The package reportedly reached Akash’s home at around 5 pm on Monday through a courier service. After receiving it, he opened the parcel expecting to find his Android device. But the box did not contain the electronic product. According to Akash, it was filled with cow dung manure instead. He realised that something had gone seriously wrong with the order and that he may have been cheated. A video showing the parcel and its contents has also circulated on social media, bringing further attention to the incident. Reports said Akash had video evidence related to the parcel when he approached the authorities.

    Akash approaches cybercrime police

After discovering what was inside the parcel, Akash approached the police and lodged a complaint. He told authorities that he had paid Rs 1,999 for the Android device but received a packet containing cow dung instead. He has sought action against those responsible for the alleged fraud. The case has now moved beyond the bizarre delivery itself, as investigators are trying to establish how the order was placed and where the transaction went wrong.

Police investigate website, payment, and courier trail

Police officials have confirmed that an investigation is underway. Authorities are examining the credentials and authenticity of the platform from which the device was ordered. They are also checking the payment transaction and courier delivery chain to determine who was involved in the alleged fraud. At this stage, the investigation is still underway, so it cannot yet be said who replaced the device with cow dung or at what point the alleged fraud occurred. Further action will depend on what investigators find during the probe.

    A reminder for online shoppers

The incident is also a reminder that shoppers need to be careful when buying products through social media advertisements or unfamiliar online sellers. Before making a payment, consumers should check the seller’s identity, look for reliable reviews, and verify whether the website or seller has a genuine customer-support system. It is also safer to purchase expensive electronics from established platforms or authorised sellers. Shoppers should be particularly cautious about offers that appear unusually cheap or are promoted through unfamiliar social media accounts.

Why such scams can be difficult to track

Online shopping fraud can involve several stages, including the seller, payment platform, website or social media account, and courier service. This can make it difficult to immediately identify where a fraudulent transaction originated. That is why keeping payment records, order details, screenshots, messages, and delivery evidence can be important when filing a complaint. In Akash’s case, police are now examining these different parts of the transaction to determine what happened to his ₹1,999 payment and why the parcel contained something completely different from the product he ordered. For now, the Greater Noida case remains under investigation. What began as a simple online purchase has turned into a bizarre alleged fraud case, with an Android device nowhere to be found and a parcel of cow dung arriving at the buyer’s doorstep instead.
