In 2011, NASCAR champion Tony Stewart completed a nearly 20,000-square-foot home on 415 acres in Columbus, Indiana. The property, known as Hidden Hollow Ranch, was built as a private retreat with a stocked lake, wildlife, indoor entertainment spaces and features designed to bring the outdoors into the house. It is now listed for $18.9 million.According to Realtor.com, the ranch has changed its asking price several times since it was first put on the market. Stewart listed the property for $30 million in 2022. In 2024, it returned to the market at $22.5 million, a $7.5 million reduction from the earlier asking price. The property website now lists the ranch at $18.9 million.Stewart bought the land in 2004 and later built the main house, which measures 19,713 square feet, according to the property’s official website. The ranch has six bedrooms and eight full bathrooms and three half bathrooms. It also includes a 3,500-square-foot guest house, a six-car garage and an accessory building with workshops, storage and a full bathroom. The property was designed around both the wooded land and the activities available on it. Its 415 acres include a nine-acre stocked lake and a licensed hunting preserve. The main house also has several unusual features, including a two-story waterfall, a 1,500-gallon koi stream and an 8,700-gallon freshwater aquarium.

A home built around the outdoors

The house was constructed using lodgepole pine sourced from the Northern Rockies. The property website says the flooring includes white oak and red oak hardwood from New York, along with stone from Texas. Indiana bedrock was used for fireplaces in the breakfast room, great room and screened-in porch. One of the most noticeable features is in the entrance. A 1,500-gallon stream stocked with koi runs through the entryway and has a bridge over it. The stream connects with a two-story waterfall, making water a central feature of the home’s interior. The great room has an 8,700-gallon freshwater aquarium. The official property website also lists a cleaning room and tank for the fish. A large television is built into the room, while the space also includes a fireplace and views towards the private lake. The kitchen has a hibachi grill with commercial exhaust, a Wolf range and a Sub-Zero refrigerator. The property website lists hickory and knotty alder kitchen cabinets, along with heated floors throughout the house. The main level also has a master suite with a kitchenette, walk-in shower, rain shower and jacuzzi. TVs are built into the mirrors. There are two laundry rooms in the house. The upper level has four bedrooms, all with en-suite bathrooms and views of the surrounding property.

The lower level is designed around recreation. It includes a two-lane bowling alley, a billiards room, a workout room with a full bathroom and a golf simulator room. There is also a lighted onyx bar and other entertainment space. Earlier Realtor.com coverage described the lower level as having a bowling alley, game area, golf simulator room, gym and bar.The house also has several custom-made fixtures. The official property website says the entry fixture was made in Alaska, while all the light fixtures were custom made in Utah. A ring from a naval battleship is used to hold the great room roof in place. The property also includes three geothermal heat systems, two 1,000-gallon commercial-grade water heaters and a Cummins generator. Its roof has three layers, with corrugated steel shingles on top, along with custom-made copper gutters and downspouts.

The great room features a stone fireplace and a wall of windows.

415 acres with a stocked lake

The land surrounding the house is a major part of Hidden Hollow Ranch. It includes a nine-acre stocked lake with largemouth bass, bluegill, carp, gar, perch and crappie. The ranch is also a licensed hunting preserve. The official property website lists 15 elk, 300 deer and turkey on the property. Realtor.com previously reported that the wooded acreage included elk, deer and turkey and described the lake as stocked for fishing. The property is also zoned for a bed and breakfast, giving the ranch another permitted use. When Stewart first listed the ranch in 2022, he described it as his dream home. “This is truly my dream home,” Stewart said in a statement at the time. “We enjoyed every square inch of the land here. This became my place to get away and relax with my family and friends.”He also spoke about the range of activities available on the property, saying, “The land is great for hunting and fishing, off-roading, or just sitting on the porch and enjoying the stars at night. It is the perfect blend of entertainment and relaxation.”
