    Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Ramayana’, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, is among the most anticipated upcoming Indian films. The epic is reportedly set to reach audiences in the US in two versions, with the English-language cut, titled ‘Ramayana: Rise of a Legend’, listed at 30 minutes shorter than the Hindi version. Theatre listings have offered a glimpse of the two runtimes, although the makers have not officially confirmed the reported differences.

    ‘Ramayana’ to have different runtimes in US theatre listings

    According to a report by Variety India, US theatre chain AMC has listed both the Hindi and English versions of ‘Ramayana’ for November 5. The Hindi version is listed with a runtime of 3 hours and 15 minutes, while the English-language version, titled ‘Ramayana: Rise of a Legend’, is listed at 2 hours and 45 minutes.The listings indicate a 30-minute difference between the two cuts. However, the runtimes and the extent of the differences have not been officially confirmed by the filmmakers.

    Why is the English version reportedly shorter?

    Earlier reports suggested that the difference in duration could be linked to the songs and interval included in the Hindi version but reportedly absent from the English-language cut. It remains unclear whether the two versions will differ in other aspects of the narrative, editing or presentation.The makers have not issued an official statement explaining the reported runtime difference. Further details about the English-language version are awaited.

    Cast and crew of ‘Ramayana’

    Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, ‘Ramayana’ stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman. The ensemble cast also includes Arun Govil, Lara Dutta, Vivek Oberoi, Rakul Preet Singh, Indira Krishnan, Sheeba Chaddha, Shobana, Kunal Kapoor and Kajal Aggarwal.The film is planned as a two-part adaptation of the Indian epic, with the first instalment scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release in November 2026.

    ‘Ramayana’ release date and India plans

    The first part of ‘Ramayana’ has been officially scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on November 6, 2026. However, AMC’s US listings reportedly show November 5 for both versions, potentially reflecting a market-specific release schedule.Separately, Pinkvilla has reported that paid previews are planned in India on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, ahead of a proposed theatrical release on Thursday, November 5. If that schedule is confirmed, the film would not open on Diwali, which falls on November 8 in 2026.
