Ayush Thakur, an ML engineer at Walmart, shared an Instagram video explaining where his money goes every month.According to him, he spends ₹18,000 on rent. His house help costs ₹3,000, while another ₹1,000 goes towards WiFi, subscriptions, and electricity.He also said he spends nothing on travelling to work or office meals because his company provides both cab services and food. Talking about this benefit, he said, “This is the reason I romanticize my 9-to-5.”
Food, investments, and shopping make up the rest
Apart from rent and utility expenses, Thakur said he spends around ₹12,000 every month on groceries, food, and protein supplements.He also puts ₹30,000 into investments and SIPs every month. Explaining why he prefers investing a large amount regularly, he joked, “I can’t be trusted with idle money in my account.”Besides that, he spends around ₹10,000 on miscellaneous purchases, including shopping and what he called “random 2 am Amazon orders.”

After adding up all his monthly expenses, Thakur said the total comes to ₹74,000.Reacting to the amount, he said, “Which is sorta scary, kyunki main utna bahar nahi jata, aur na hi party karta hoon (because I don’t go out that much or party). But I guess, adulting in these big cities is just one long bill.”
