Doctor left Mumbai despite loving the city; why she chose a small-town job is striking a chord online
Doctor reveals why she walked away from Mumbai for a small-town job

The idea of success has long been linked with cities like Mumbai, where people move to build careers and chase bigger opportunities. But now, a different kind of conversation is finding space on social media. Instead of asking where people work, many are asking whether the lifestyle that comes with a job is worth it.A post by Dr. Garima Chauhan has become part of that discussion. The doctor recently shared why she decided to leave Mumbai and take up a medical job in a small town. Even though she says the city means a lot to her, she explained that stepping away from it helped her build a life with more comfort, more time, and better balance.

Why she decided to leave Mumbai

Dr. Chauhan said leaving Mumbai was not an easy choice. She described it as one of the hardest decisions she has ever made because the city is home, her family lives there, and it will always remain close to her heart. But six months after moving, she feels she made the right decision. According to her, success is not only about living in the biggest city. She believes it can also mean choosing a life that brings peace, balance, and time for yourself. She also said people should choose the life they truly want instead of following the expectations of others.

    What changed after she moved

In the video shared on her post, Dr. Chauhan addressed a question she hears regularly. As a first-generation doctor, many people ask why she left Mumbai to work in a small town. She explained that she had just returned from work in a car arranged by the hospital where she is currently employed. She added that whenever there is an emergency, the hospital sends a vehicle to pick her up.She then spoke about what life was like when she was in Mumbai. Every morning, she had to wake up early and board crowded local trains, often standing throughout the journey. She also said that unexpected delays meant salary deductions.According to her, this daily routine slowly became the biggest reason for leaving the city.

From a rented flat to a company-provided home

Dr. Chauhan also shared how her living situation has changed after taking up the new job.She said she and her husband had earlier lived in a small rented apartment in Mumbai and paid Rs 30,000 every month as rent. Now, her workplace provides a spacious two-bedroom apartment with two balconies free of cost. She said the change has made her everyday life much more comfortable.

    Internet users share their thoughts

Many social media users related to her experience and shared their own views in the comments. One user wrote, “The only reason I came back to Nagpur.”Another commented, “Happy that you got a better setup and quality of life!”A third user wrote, “Peace should be the priority.”Disclaimer: This article is based on a video and statements shared by an individual on social media.
