Ravi Mohan divorce case: Court rejects Rs 40 lakh alimony plea, allows ‘Karathey Babu’ actor to meet sons

Actor Ravi Mohan’s divorce case with his estranged wife Aarti has taken a new turn with the Chennai Family Welfare Court passing important interim orders. The court dismissed Aarti’s demand for Rs 40 lakh per month as maintenance and instead ordered Ravi Mohan to pay Rs 3 lakh each month until the divorce proceedings are completed. The order has also brought clarity to another major issue that had become a point of dispute between the couple.

Court rejects Rs 40 lakh plea, orders Rs 3 lakh monthly maintenance

The latest development comes as the couple continues to fight their divorce case before the family court. According to The Indian Express, Aarti had approached the court for interim maintenance of Rs 40 lakh per month till the case was being heard. The court heard both sides and rejected the plea. It set an interim maintenance amount of Rs 3 lakh per month, which Ravi Mohan has to pay till the case is decided. The order is a big step in one of the most high-profile celebrity divorce cases in Tamil cinema.

Ravi Mohan allowed to meet sons without restrictions

Apart from the financial aspect, the court also addressed the issue of the couple’s two sons, Aarav and Ayaan. The Family Welfare Court stated that there should be no restriction on the children meeting their father. The order comes months after Ravi Mohan publicly claimed that he was being prevented from spending time with his sons. He had alleged that Aarti did not allow him to meet the children, sent them to school with security personnel, and even failed to inform him when they were involved in a car accident. Ravi had earlier said he was deeply hurt that he learned about the accident from others and was still unable to see his children despite his concern.

Long-running legal dispute continues as next phase begins

Ravi Mohan and Aarti, who got married in June 2009, were together for nearly 15 years before their relationship broke down. In September 2024, the actor announced he filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences. Aarti later said that he took the decision without her knowledge. Since then, the case has stayed in the public eye with headlines over disputes on maintenance, custody and personal allegations. The court’s latest interim order has fixed the maintenance amount for the time being and paved the way for Ravi Mohan to meet his sons. But the bigger divorce case is still pending to be decided after the trial ends.
