The much-awaited sequel to Prabhas starrer ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ has completed only a brief shooting schedule so far. Director Nag Ashwin has confirmed that the team has filmed for around 10 days. The next major schedule will begin once Prabhas becomes available.The sequel follows the success of ‘Kalki 2898 AD’, which released in theatres in 2024. The film featured Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan and Deepika Padukone in key roles. It emerged as one of the biggest commercial successes of that year and marked a major comeback of Prabhas after ‘Baahubali’.
Nag Ashwin confirms 10-day shooting schedule
Nag Ashwin recently shared an update about the progress of ‘Kalki 2898 AD Part 2’. The filmmaker was speaking at the pre-release event of Dulquer Salmaan‘s ‘I’m Game’ when he discussed the sequel.As quoted by Pinkvilla, the director said, “The planets have aligned and even taken a round. So, we will begin shooting again when they align and can take another round. Not much. We shot for only about 10 days. Once Prabhas garu is free, we will shoot in a long stretch.”
Amitabh Bachchan shares set pictures
Earlier this year, Amitabh Bachchan had provided a glimpse of his work on the sequel. The veteran actor shared photographs from the sets through his personal blog.Amitabh Bachchan was seen in his Ashwatthama appearance. Kamal Haasan, meanwhile, appeared in casual clothes and not in Supreme Yaskin look from the first film.
‘Kalki 2898 AD Part 2’ story details
Nag Ashwin is returning as the director and writer of ‘Kalki 2898 AD Part 2’. The sequel is expected to further develop the futuristic ‘Star Wars’- like world established in the first film.The franchise combines science fiction with mythology and draws inspiration from the Mahabharata. The battle involving Supreme Yaskin is expected to remain central to the story. The protection of the prophesied child is also likely to remain an important element.
Prabhas has ‘Fauzi ‘ next
Prabhas is currently focused on ‘Fauzi’, which is being directed by Hanu Raghavapudi. The film is targeting a December release.On the other hand, Prabhas was last seen in ‘The Raja Saab’ and also played a cameo in ‘Kannappa’.
