A biker was fighting to keep his balance as a sudden surge of floodwater swept across a road in Himachal Pradesh’s Chamba. He was stuck in the middle of the rushing water, with the current making it difficult for him to move towards safety. A family travelling by car spotted him and stopped. What happened next was captured on video. When it became difficult to reach the biker directly, a newlywed woman took off her dupatta and used it as a makeshift rope. The biker grabbed the cloth and, with help from the family, managed to get out of the dangerous current.
Biker caught in sudden flash flood
According to various media reports, the incident took place on the Kakiara-Tunuhatti road in the Bharmala area of Bhatiyat in Chamba after heavy rain caused water to suddenly surge across the road late in the evening.The flow was strong enough to turn the road into what appeared to be a fast-moving stream. The biker, identified in reports as a resident of Mamla village in Ghatashni, was caught in the water and struggled to maintain his balance. A family passing through the area noticed him and stopped their car. One of the men got out and moved towards the stranded biker. But the force of the water and slippery conditions made the rescue difficult. The biker needed something he could hold on to while being pulled towards the side of the road.That was when one of the women in the family stepped forward. She removed her dupatta and extended it towards the biker. He managed to grab it, giving him something to hold as he moved through the rushing water. The man who had gone towards him also helped, while another person joined the rescue effort. Together, they brought the biker towards safer ground.
Two women also helped pull him out
The video shows two women near the flooded stretch, holding out the dupatta towards the biker. The current can be seen moving rapidly across the road as the stranded man tries to reach the family. In the video, it can be seen that with their help, the biker eventually managed to hold on to it, after which the family members helped pull him away from the strongest part of the current.The video of the rescue was later shared on social media and spread widely. A post accompanying the footage identified the location as Bhatiyat in Chamba and described the woman as a newlywed who gave up her dupatta to help save the biker.

The footage has since been widely shared, with social media users praising the family for stopping to help instead of driving past the stranded biker. The incident comes amid heavy rain and weather-related disruptions in parts of Himachal Pradesh. Chamba has also witnessed landslide-related disruptions during the ongoing spell of rain.
