'Two people were enjoying my food’: Gurugram man claims Zomato delivery partner ate his dinner
Zomato Now comes alongside sister company Blinkit’s 10-minute food delivery service Bistro, which operates through its own cloud kitchens.

A late-night food order turned into a frustrating experience for a Gurugram customer after he claimed his dinner never reached him, and alleged that the delivery partner may have eaten it instead.Rishabh Kaushik shared his experience on X, saying he had placed an order from Khadak Singh Ka Dhaba through Zomato at around 10:58 pm. When he went to track the order, however, he said the delivery partner’s location appeared to remain in one place for nearly 40 minutes. That left him wondering what had happened to his food.“I went to track my order and, instead of finding my food, I found the delivery partner’s location, and apparently, two people were enjoying my dinner,” Kaushik wrote. He also claimed that he was told the order had been sold for ₹100.Frustrated with the situation, Kaushik took a swipe at Zomato’s customer support, writing that the platform had “a bot sitting there too”.“@deepigoyal, this isn’t food delivery anymore. It’s a full-fledged food-sharing economy,” he added, joking that the delivery was apparently “still standing there”.

    Zomato responds to the complaint

The post caught Zomato’s attention, with the company asking Kaushik to share his order details privately so it could look into what had happened.“Hey Rishabh, please share your order ID via DM so we can check this,” Zomato replied. The company has not publicly confirmed Kaushik’s claim that the delivery partner consumed his food. At this stage, the allegation remains based on the customer’s account.

Food safety becomes part of the conversation

The incident quickly turned into a wider discussion among social media users, with several people raising questions about food safety and what could happen if a delivery order is opened or handled before reaching the customer.“This isn’t acceptable,” one user wrote, questioning whether a delivery partner who could allegedly take someone’s food could also tamper with it.Others focused on late-night food orders and shared their own experiences with delivery problems. One person said they preferred choosing cash on delivery for late-night orders, while another claimed they had learnt to avoid placing an order unless COD was available. Some users also said they had faced long delays and cancellations, with one person claiming they had waited for two hours before the order was eventually cancelled without compensation. Not everyone was convinced that paying in cash would solve the problem, though. One user simply asked: “Does paying in cash make any difference?”For now, what actually happened to Kaushik’s dinner remains unclear. Zomato’s response suggests that the company is looking into the complaint, but there has been no public confirmation of the customer’s allegation.
