    From Paris to Mumbai at 23: French man reveals 3 things nobody warned him about after moving to India

    Moving from Paris to Mumbai is quite a change. And for 23-year-old Nico, the first few weeks in the city have come with plenty of surprises.Nico recently moved from France to Mumbai for a new job and has been documenting what it’s like to start over in a city that’s very different from home.“3 things nobody warned me about before moving from Paris to Mumbai,” he wrote in the caption of a video about his move.One of the first things that caught him off guard was distance. In Mumbai, a five-kilometre journey doesn’t necessarily mean a quick trip. Traffic can turn even a short distance into a much longer commute.He also found himself changing the way he plans his day. Traffic, the heat, chai and, of course, finding good food have all become part of his everyday calculations.Then came another realisation: his idea of what a “normal” life looked like had changed.“I’m 23, moved 7,000 km from Paris to Mumbai, started a new job, met an entirely new group of people and basically had to figure out a new life from scratch,” he said.But there was one thing Nico hadn’t expected at all. He’d actually start falling in love with Mumbai.Three weeks into his new life, he said he was still getting lost, learning Hindi and finding new places around the city. There are moments when he still wonders how he ended up in Mumbai. But that’s also what makes the experience exciting for him.“Sometimes the best decision is the one that makes absolutely no sense when you explain it to everyone back home,” he added.Nico’s Instagram account has since filled up with glimpses of his life in Mumbai. He’s shared videos from Ganesh Visarjan celebrations, explored different parts of the city, spent time by the sea and tried out local food and experiences.With more than 1,800 followers, he regularly posts about lifestyle, fashion, travel and food. For now, it looks like his Mumbai chapter is only getting started.
