Almost 20 years after her first trip to India, Hollywood actor Sienna Miller still remembers it clearly. Currently seen in the legal drama ‘War’, she spoke about her 2007 Mumbai visit and what it taught her about the country.
Why Sienna Miller came to India
According to the Hindustan Times report, Sienna Miller’s trip was not like that of most Hollywood stars. She did not come to promote a film or a series. She visited as an ambassador for Global Cool, a group that campaigns on climate change. During the week-long trip, she worked to spread awareness and push for changes in Indian law, with a focus on the environment. She also went to several places, including Dharavi in Mumbai, which is described as Asia’s largest slum.Looking back, Sienna said, “I think India is the most incredible country, and I have been to many other places as well, apart from the slums in Mumbai. We were going there to get legislation changed around climate change.”
Meeting Bollywood stars
Sienna met a number of Bollywood names who backed her cause, including Salman Khan and Amitabh Bachchan. “I teamed up with lots of Bollywood stars, including Amitabh Bachchan. It was a really enlightening trip,” she said.
