From ‘Mr. From the ‘James Bond’ franchise to ‘Mr. No,’ and ‘Indiana Jones’ with Harrison Ford, the star was a beloved household name and, to date, is remembered for his acting prowess, as well as for his personality. According to the quote of the day from the famed actor, it is best to live and work for yourself rather than for others, understanding that you know yourself best. The quote of the day from the legendary actor reads, “If you start thinking of your image, or what the mysterious ‘they’ out there are thinking of you, you’re in a trap. What’s important is that you’re doing the work that’s best for you.”
What does the quote mean?
The quote, which Connery said in a promotional interview after winning the Academy Award for ‘The Untouchables,’ explains that caring what other people think about you all the time yields no positive results. The phrase ‘what will other people say’ often dictates how many people lead their lives, which is not entirely healthy.

In this quote, “they” refers to the abstract, faceless audience, critics, or public opinion. Attempting to please an imaginary collective on everyday issues is futile, as “they” are unpredictable, fickle, and impossible to satisfy completely. When someone focuses on managing their appearance, they stop acting naturally and start performing for others. Upholding an external image for other people restricts your personal choices and prevents you from taking creative risks. At its core, the quote is about shifting the focus away from self-consciousness and onto the immediate task, without caring what other people may think of you or how differently someone might want things done.
