‘I was blocked’: Ex-employee claims ₹10,000 salary is still unpaid nearly a year after quitting
An ex-employee claims ₹10,000 in salary is still unpaid nearly a year later.

A delayed salary can become much more than a financial issue. It can leave people feeling ignored, unheard, and disappointed long after they have moved on from a workplace. That is why a recent LinkedIn post by a Kolkata-based professional has found a strong response online. In the post, he claimed that almost a year after resigning from his previous job, Rs 10,000 of his salary is still pending. The post has since sparked a wider conversation, with many social media users sharing similar experiences of waiting for payments after leaving a company.

Former employee shares what happened after resigning

Rounik Tarafder recently opened up about an experience he said he had been carrying for almost a year.According to his LinkedIn post, he resigned from a Kolkata-based digital marketing firm in October last year. He wrote that when he left the organization, he had accepted that he might not receive payment for the final 15 days he worked in October. However, he claimed that Rs 10,000 from his pending salary has still not been paid.

    Months of waiting and follow-ups

Tarafder said he continued reaching out to the company and its owner in the months that followed. He said he believed the issue would eventually be resolved and decided to remain patient throughout the process.Explaining why he waited, he wrote: “I continued to wait patiently because I believed that keeping trust and maintaining professionalism was the right thing to do.”Despite his repeated follow-ups, he claimed that the payment was never released. He further said that he was eventually blocked from contacting the company.“Unfortunately, despite my patience and repeated follow-ups, the payment has still not been cleared. Eventually, I found myself blocked from further communication, leaving me with no way to even ask for an update.”

Says he wants others to stay careful

Tarafder said he did not share his experience out of anger or to single out any individual. Instead, he said he wanted others to be aware of such situations before accepting a job offer. He also urged people to understand an organization’s payment practices and keep all agreements in writing.“I’m sharing this not out of anger or to target anyone personally, but because I don’t want someone else to go through the same uncertainty. Before joining any organization, please take the time to understand its payment practices, keep every agreement in writing, and protect your own interests.”

Post resonates with many social media users

The LinkedIn post received several reactions from people who said they could relate to the experience. Many criticized the alleged delay in clearing salary dues and spoke about the importance of treating employees fairly. One user commented, “No employee should have to wait this long for compensation they’ve already earned. Respect for employees begins with honouring commitments and paying dues on time.”Another wrote, “I have been waiting two years for a pending payment. The CEO repeatedly promised repayment but delayed, apparently to secure his visa. He has now absconded to the UK and stopped all communication.”A third user said, “Blocking a former employee instead of clearing legitimate dues says more about a company’s culture than any positive review ever could. Every employee deserves respect, and that starts with paying them what they’ve earned.”A fourth added, “Some companies give false assurance instead of telling the truth. Same happened with me also; it would have hurt less if the truth was given on the face that ‘no, your dues will not be paid,’ rather than this kind of unprofessional behaviour.”Disclaimer: This article is based on a LinkedIn post and online reactions.
