In a recent post on X, Agarwal shared how a simple game of colourful cards got him thinking about the choices, setbacks and opportunities people face in everyday life.A young member of his team had introduced him to UNO a few days earlier. And while playing, Agarwal found himself drawing parallels between some of the game’s most recognisable cards and the way life works.

“A simple game, colourful cards… yet it explained life in a new way. Every card felt like a small lesson,” Agarwal wrote in his post.The Skip Card, he said, reminded him that not every obstacle or argument needs a reaction. Sometimes, walking past something instead of spending your energy on it can be the better choice.Then there’s the Reverse Card. Agarwal compared it to those moments when a situation isn’t going as planned but can still be turned around with one firm decision.“Sometimes, one strong decision is enough to turn the situation around,” he wrote.But it was the Wild Card that stood out to him the most.Agarwal said everyone has a “wild card” in life, something that sets them apart. It could be a particular strength, quality or talent that makes a person different from others.“If you learn to recognise it and use it at the right time, it can take you a very long way,” he wrote.His larger point was that life, much like UNO, involves making choices at the right moment. Small opportunities can add up, and knowing when to make a move can change what happens next.Agarwal ended his post with a question for his followers: What is the “wild card” that makes you uniquely yourself?
Internet has its own UNO lessons
The post led several users to share what they thought their own “wild card” might be.“Honesty is my wild card which can fill in the gap of all the shortcomings,” one user wrote.Another pointed out that UNO can also teach a less comfortable lesson: even if you play every card perfectly, there’s always an element of chance.“UNO’s real lesson cuts the other way though. You can play every card right and still lose to someone else’s random Draw Four,” the user commented.Someone else called Agarwal’s comparison a “beautiful analogy”, saying the game can also remind people that knowing which card to play matters, but so does knowing which card to hold back.
